Way back over Easter, Annie and I took a quick trip to Tuscany for a spot of truffle hunting and general pasta scoffing and we stayed with our friend Ann Alexander who’s restored a beautiful house in the centre of Montisi, a wonderful medieval hilltop village about 40 minutes south of Siena.

Riding on the joy and success of participating in British Sarnie Week we thought we should check out some more “Occasional Dates” and boy did we find some… Occasional Dates are those wonderfully British (and International) eclectic collection of “Awareness Days” that seem to happen almost every week. Dubai is just the most totally and utterly bonkers place I have ever been – for me it was a mix of Groundhog Day and the Truman Show – everyone is beautiful with beautiful teeth, beautiful clothes, and shoes to die for (OK, so I have a minor shoe fetish), the weather is perfect, everywhere is perfect, everyone smiles, everything is immaculate but it all felt a little bit like being in a theme park - albeit the most fantastic theme park…
This March, Spring’s definitely in the air and there’s lots going on in the Olives Et Al Delis… The Deli counters are crammed with new season goodies, good ‘ole favourites and brand new stock – and the shelves are stuffed with Easter gifts. On Thursday 24th January the Potting Shed wants all those thinking caps on ready for the Olives Et Al Quiz night. It’s £12.50 per person which includes a welcome drink, a delicious grazing board and your entry. Team sizes need to be around 3 – 6 people, with a £5 deposit per person. Well, it’s nearly time for Santa to do his stuff and we’re busy getting ready to welcome the big bearded bundle of fun down our chimney…
So, our Shop in Stur will be open on Sunday 23rd from 10am to 3pm and then on Christmas Eve from 8.30am to 12 midday. Then we’re off to wrap a few pressies and enjoy Christmas to the full so we’re not re-opening until 2nd January 2013. The Potting Shed in Poundbury will be open Sunday 23rd 10.30am…
