Screen Bites

Author: Midge | October 7th, 2011

This week sees the start of the fantastic Screen Bites Food Film Festival in village halls across Dorset, South Somerset and Wiltshire for the next four weeks and Olives Et Al are very proud to be the main sponsor again.  We’ve supported Screen Bites since the beginning, 7 years ago, as it’s a wonderful opportunity, as the evenings draw in, to get out locally with your mates to watch a selection of the best internationally acclaimed foodie feature films with the best Movie Munchies ever!

There are lots of fantastic films…

Great taste……

We’re absolutely chuffed to bits that our little stars have picked up so many Taste of the West awards this year.  Our Kiln Roasted Harissa Almonds and Genovese Pesto came top of the class, both scooping GOLD awards, not bad for our pesto’s very first time in front of the judges (although  Giles has been perfecting the recipe for 18 years – so he has got it pretty spot on!).

Summer has arrived

After some fairly indifferent spells of weather over the past few months we’ve finally hit some bouts of real sunshine, well at least here in Dorset!  The kids are off school, and we oliveers have various trips and holidays planned. From weeks in Sardinia and Sicily to long weekends camping in yurts (fancy tepees!!) in deepest Devon, we’ve got lots planned and we’ll get some photos up on facebook soon to show you where we’ve been.

But we want…

From Tapas to a traditional English Fair

Today, for one day only, we’re at the inaugural Bournemouth Food and Drink Festival. The festival runs all weekend and emulates those that take place all over Spain where visitors travel from one tapas bar to another sampling delicious food and wine.

Even though Bournemouth is not overrun with authentic tapas bars, the idea is to enable restaurants and producers from the area to highlight their signature dishes – there’ll be all sorts of food on…

A great tasting flower show

Author: Midge | July 22nd, 2011

Set in the beautiful surroundings of an historic estate in Cheshire, the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park boasts some breathtaking gardens, but that’s not all there is on show this year. For the first time there is also the Great Tastes Market set up by the Guild of Fine Food, which is where you’ll find us this weekend!

Our lovely olivey Mark has been at the show since Wednesday meeting an array of people and showcasing some of our…

Lucky 13!

Author: Midge | July 15th, 2011

Unlucky for some, but certainly not for us – all week we’ve been celebrating our haul of 13 Gold Great Taste Awards here in sunny Dorset. It takes a real team effort to make these awards possible and to win a whole batch of Stars is a brilliant result for everyone that stuffs, roasts, marinates, mixes and packs in the Olives Et Al team.

At the top of the podium, sit our Aussie Olives with a much…

Tasting Great!!!

This is hot off the press – this year we’ve won not one, not two, not three………..(ok that would take far too long!) we’ve won 13 Great Taste Awards from The Guild of Fine Food this year – and we’re pretty chuffed about it!

In amongst the winners were two for the Captain, with his Wasabi Flaming Rice Balls and Chilli Harissa Nuts scooping awards, as well as our brand new Olives Et Al Pesto Genovese (so it turns out it was…

It’s back ………..for its 7th year running the UK BOOGIE WOOGIE FESTIVAL will be causing a stir in Stur! From Friday 1st July – Sunday 3rd July there will be an array of talented pianists, singers, instrumentalists and dancers from all over the World performing right here in Sturminster Newton.

Us oliveers love to boogie woogie, so much so that we’re helping to sponsor the event and we’d love you to be there too. We’re giving one lucky…

We were everywhere last week, from Judging Deli of the Year in London, to attending the Bridport and Cheltenham Food Festivals, all the oliveers on the road had a great time!

The DOTY judging at Fortnum and Mason was a difficult job – there were so many fantastic entries for each region, getting down to the final 11 was no mean feat, now we’re all very excited to see who will become the overall champion.

Bridport Food Festival was great…

What a week………

Author: Midge | June 16th, 2011

Wow, what a week it’s been already …… and it doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.  We started with the small matter of launching the pesto that we’ve been perfecting for the past 18 years and then moved on to the very exciting first round of judging for DOTY!

It may have taken us a long time to get there, but at last we’ve finally achieved a knock-out recipe for our new pesto and it’s been worth…
